In support of the PTA’s 2008-2009 theme “Carver Cares” with a focus on our environment and the world around us, the theme for this year’s Reading Incentive Program is “BLAST OFF WITH BOOKS.” Students will be rewarded with exciting prizes as they travel through the solar system. Only minutes starting October 6th on the logs will count!

Blast off to the planets!

The reading destinations and prizes are:

  • Level 1 START at Planet Carver and Blast Off!!!
    (Mars)= Turn in the first Reading Log (sticker)

  • Level 2 (Jupiter)= 500 total minutes (NASA bookmark)

  • Level 3 (Saturn)= 1,000 total minutes (Space pencil)

  • Level 4 (Uranus)= 2,000 total minutes (Create your own Space Scene)

  • Level 5 (Neptune)= 3,000 total minutes (Star Reader patch)

  • Level 6 (Mercury)= 4,500 total minutes (Lanyard)

  • Level 7 (Venus)= 6,500 total minutes (Space Light keychain)

  • Level 8 (return to Planet Carver on Earth!)= 9,000 total minutes ($5.00 Gift Certificate to San Marino Toy & Book Shoppe)

Prizes will be on display in the library. As an extra incentive, there will be a biweekly trivia question in the library. Students who turn in their reading log can answer the question and enter the biweekly drawing for a new book!
