Mrs. Shay teaches English Language Development to about sixty students at Carver in grades kindergarten through fifth grade.

Mrs. Shay was born in China and grew up in Taiwan. She graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a major in English literature and education. She has taught eighth grade English and U.S. History, fifth grade, fourth grade and third grade in self-contained classrooms. When she returned to Taiwan to live, she taught in the same school that she had graduated from, Morrison Academy. Here she taught Writing for second language high school and middle school students and taught in the ESL/Special Needs department before returning to the U.S.
